BRIEF: Feline fiesta

July 11--Ray Hernandez-Duran, professor of art and art history at the University of New Mexico, will speak on "Symbol, Guide and Familiar: The Cat & Human Spirituality Through the Ages" during the Fabulous Felines Summer Party Sunday.

He brings his perspective on the role cats have played in human cultural and intellectual lives. He will talk at 3 p.m.

The event also will feature food, a silent auction and music by jazz guitarist Michael Anthony, who will play from 2-3 p.m. He is a professor of jazz studies at UNM. He has played jazz guitar professionally for more than 50 years, recording and performing with Tony Bennett, Nelson Riddle, Henry Mancini, Ray Brown, Elvin Brown and Louis Belson, among others.

The silent auction will feature hotel stays, restaurant gift cards and surprise gifts.
