FSR Poised to Work with Newly Confirmed HUD Secretary

WASHINGTON, July 9 -- The Financial Services Roundtable issued the following news release:

The Financial Services Roundtable and its Housing Policy Council division congratulated Julian Castro on his confirmation to be the next Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary.

"FSR and HPC congratulate Julian Castro on his confirmation," said HPC President John Dalton. "We stand ready to work with HUD, as well as the rest of Washington's housing policy regulators, to reform the nation's housing finance system to protect taxpayers and ensure more people can experience the American Dream of homeownership."

FSR and HPC advocate for strong housing finance reform the winds down Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, replacing them with a private capital based-market and a last resort government backstop to ensure credit remains available.
