July 09--Heritage Days will take place Thursday through Sunday in the community building at Emigrant Springs State Park, off Interstate 84 near Meacham.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings the Blue Mountain Fiddlers and other regional entertainers will play from 6 p.m. until they're too tired to go on.
Friday and Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. the festival will host a variety of booths, including Oregon Trail Travelers, pioneer candle-making, Buck & Suzette mining, muzzleloaders, paper-making, tribal drumming, a cake walk and more.
Sunday morning the booths will be open briefly before they close down. For more information, call 541-962-5479.
OMSI globe on display at library
ELGIN -- An interactive globe from Portland'sOregon Museum of Science and Industry is on display at the Elgin Public Library.
Theresa Chandler, Elgin Public Library librarian, said Tuesday night at the Elgin City Council meeting that OMSI has given the library an interactive globe with a laptop for the month of July. It's free of charge to use and participants can use the laptop to look at weather patterns and see it on display on the globe.
The library's hours are Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Yard sale donations accepted Thursday
Donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at La Grande Middle School for a Philly Trip fundraiser yard sale.
Imbler School Board meets Wednesday
IMBLER -- The Imbler School District Board of Directors will meet for a work session at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Room 1 of the high school. The public is welcome to attend.
Landmarks commission meets
The City of La Grande Landmarks Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the council chambers at La Grande City Hall, 1000 Adams Ave. On the schedule for the regular session meeting is a review and recommendation of historical appropriateness of the New Towne Square Building and defining classifications of historic buildings within the district.
Sign in set for Elgin Grand Parade
ELGIN -- Sign in for the Elgin Stampede Grand Parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sunday across the Stampede Grounds at W.C. Construction in Elgin.

ELGIN -- The Elgin Stampede Kiddies Parade will take place Saturday. Lineup begins at City Hall at 9 a.m., and the parade starts at 10 a.m.
This year's theme is honoring our local heroes.
No horses or gas-powered vehicles are allowed in the parade. Electric is OK.
