BRIEF: St. Joseph Mercy hospitals in Howell and Brighton to get $25M upgrades

July 10, 2014

By JC Reindl, Detroit Free Press

July 10--About $25 million in upgrades are planned to create private rooms at St. Joseph Mercy Livingston hospital in Howell and add overnight beds to St. Joseph Mercy Brighton.

The upgrades at St. Joseph Mercy Livingston reflect a decision to keep the hospital at its Byron Road location rather than relocating it, according to a news release. The coming renovations will convert semi-private rooms into private rooms with private bathrooms and expand the hospital's operating rooms while adding new equipment.

In addition, a 28-bed overnight care unit will be built at St. Joseph Mercy Brighton. Construction is expected to begin in 2015.

Financing for most of the upgrades is coming from CHE Trinity Health, the non-profit corporate parent of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System.
