Australia : DATA#3 secures $19.1 million contract to supply Microsoft software

Data#3 has secured a contract worth a $19.1 million to supply Microsoft software to be used in support of major IT projects by the Australian Department of Defence.

Mainly, the software is to be used supporting the Defence Single Information Environment program, a key plank in Defence's plan to "radically reform" ICT delivery. The software features various Windows Server components and also SQL Server, which were to be delivered during the contract period which ended 30 June.

For all Microsoft software procurement activities, Defence contracts directly with Data#3, said, a department spokesperson.

Under the Microsoft Volume Sourcing Arrangement, Data#3 is the nominated Large Account Reseller.

Earlier during this year, Data#3 had launched a $1.9 million server for Defence.

The Defence SIE forms part of a major series of IT projects including a $1.9 billion infrastructure transformation program.
