July 01--LAKE CHARLES, La. -- A new album and tour has a popular country music artist on the road again in 2014.
Country music star Martina McBride returns to Southwest Louisiana this summer for an Aug. 30 concert inside The Event Center at L'Auberge Casino and Resort in Lake Charles. Tickets are $75-$95 and on sale now for ages 21 and older at all Ticketmaster outlets, including online at www.ticketmaster.com and charge by phone at 800-745-3000.
McBride is touring in support of her 12th studio album, "Everlasting," which was released on April 8, 2014 through Kobalt Label Services. The album features a variety of covers songs originally recorded by well known rhythm and blues acts and soul artists, such as Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, Otis Redding and Van Morrison.
McBride also performs duets on the new album with fellow country starts Kelly Clarkson, on the track "In the Basement," originally done by Etta James and Sugar Pie DeSanto, and the Gavin DeGraw addition of "Bring It On Home to Me" originally performed by Sam Cooke.
McBride released her debut album in 1992, but she found her first taste of real success with her sophomore album, "The Way That I Am," which featured the hit singles "My Baby Loves Me," "Life #9," and "Independence Day."
She is also well known for her other hits such as "Safe in the Arms of Love," "Wild Angels," "A Broken Wing," "Happy Girl," "This One's for the Girls," "I'm Gonna Love You Through It" and more.
