"We will be updating the list each week and if you are unsure if you owe or how much you owe, you can check online, come into the office or just call us," said Bailey. "Third party companies will buy these and then it will be double or more to pay off once they get ownership."
She said that if the amount of the delinquent tax bill is too much for a person or business to pay off in a single payment they are able to set up a payment plan at the County Attorney's office.
Property tax bills need to be paid as soon as possible but can be paid up to the date of the sale.
There are several options for tax payment, Bailey said. Persons can pay at the County Clerk's office or send a check for the total amount published on the delinquent list. Credit cards are also accepted over the phone at 784-5212.
The sale of 2013 delinquent tax bills is open to third party purchasers. Any buyer registered with the state can submit a list of current year certificates they wish to purchase to the County Clerk.
Bailey added that the third party purchasers typically work well with delinquent taxpayers and the sale will be held in a manner similar to a professional sports draft. All payments will be due at the end of the sale.
