United States : NEW HAMPSHIRE COMPANY to be expanded in MERRIMACK

June 7, 2014

The expansion of a new Hampshire company in Merrimack is expected to create 70 jobs. A $18 million contract has been presented by the Department of Defense.

Nanocomp Technologies in Merrimack is conceived to be the only commercial producer of sheets, tape and yarn based on carbon nanotubes. It's using the material to reduce the weight of body armor for soldiers and law enforcement. The materials are being used to replace heavy copper.

The company spins or weaves the tiny tubes, which have unusual electrical properties and can absorb microwave or radar signals.
