June 05--WILLIAMSBURG -- The Muscarelle Museum of Art at the College of William and Mary is offering free admission to active duty military personnel and up to five family members between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the museum announced Thursday.

The offer comes as part of the Blue Star Museums program, which has more than 2,000 participating museums across the 50 states, Puerto Rico, American Samoa and Washington, D.C. It is also supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense.

"We are delighted to be part of an arts community that is extending this special invitation to military families," Aaron De Groft, CEO and director of the Muscarelle Museum of Art, said in a statement. "This provides a way for us to thank military families for their service and sacrifice, as well as provide an opportunity for these families to spend time together."

Muscarelle is located at 603 Jamestown Road and is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.

Sampson can be reached at 757-345-2345.
