Xinhua summary of Asia Pacific stocks news at 1100GMT, June 5

PEKIN (CIHAN)- WELLINGTON -- New Zealand stocks rose, led by Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Thursday, as a weak currency improved the manufacturer' s export earnings outlook.

The NZX 50 Index edged up 0.14 points to 5159.490. Within the index, 22 stocks rose, 21 fell and seven were unchanged. Turnover was 136 million NZ dollars. (New Zealand-Stocks)

TOKYO -- The Nikkei stock index ended 0.08 percent higher Thursday bolstered by brisk U.S. trade data released overnight.

Major gainers included air transport, precision machinery and retail issues.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.09 percent higher on Thursday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index went up by 5.87 points to 6,772.44. The all-share index also increased by 15.35 points, or 0.38 percent, to 4,077.18.

HANOI -- The Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX- Index, closed at 74.5 points on Thursday, up 0.59 points or 0.81 percent, against the previous trading session.
