Nikkei edges down in morning after rally

The Nikkei stock index fell slightly Friday morning as investors locked in gains after a recent rally.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 2.28 points, or 0.02 percent, from Thursday to 15,077.09. Meanwhile, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 1.85 points, or 0.15 percent, to 1,234.60.

Major decliners included communication, rubber products as well as retail issues.
