June 06--PERRY -- Wine and song have long been paired, but Perry merchants are making another effort to match wine with shopping.
The Second Annual Progressive Wine Tasting is scheduled to run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, melding the extended shopping hours with a different wines or non-alcohol drinks. Wristbands cost $10. Live music is featured at the New Perry Hotel and the Coffee Cup, and other merchants involved include Split Endz, Downtown Dogs, Ashley Marie's Cossart Design, Two Friends, Peach Palette, Initial Reaction, Swanson House, James Farmer and Yes! It's Consignment.
"Friday's wine tasting is a unique event for Downtown Perry, and we're hoping to have an even larger turnout than last year's Summer Kick-Office," Mary Beth Bass, the city's economic development director said. "With over 200 participants last summer, we believe this event will grow to become a signature event for our downtown business community."
Bass said the event, backed by the Perry Downtown Merchants Association, is great for businesses, residents and visitors.
