June 30--SAN ANGELO, Texas -- Annual Pops Concert scheduled Thursday

The San Angelo Symphony Pops Concert will be Thursday at the Bill Aylor Sr. Memorial RiverStage, 16 E. Ave. A.

The gates will open at noon. The Community Band will perform at 5 p.m., and the San Angelo Symphony will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. Congressman Mike Conaway will speak before the event.

The event will feature fireworks and a Symphony Kids Play Zone that will be open from 4-8:30 p.m.

General admission is free, and reserved seating is available for $10 to $25. Tickets can be purchased at the San Angelo Symphony office, 72 W. College Ave.

Silver Stars group meets Thursday

The Silver Stars will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Fellowship Hall of Glen Meadows Baptist Church, 6002 Knickerbocker Road.

The guest speaker will be Roger Ford with a presentation "Do You Believe the Bible?"

Lunch will be at Peppercorn Grill, 2715 Sherwood Way, following the meeting.

Silvers Stars members are 55 and older. The meeting is open to the public.

Christoval VFD sets fun run, barbecue

The Christoval Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Firecracker 5K and 1 mile Fun Run and Walk and barbecue Friday.

The fun run will be at Christoval Park, Main and Rudd streets. Registration is from 7:30-8:30 a.m., and the race starts at 9 a.m. Registration is $30. It includes a barbecue lunch.

The CVFD will follow the fun run with its annual Fourth of July barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Christoval Community Center. Barbecue plates are $10 for adults and by the pound $10 to go.
