Dasu hydropower project's first phase to be completed in 4 years: Musaddiq

Advisor to Prime Minister on Water and Power Dr. Musaddiq Malik has said that financing of Dasu Hydropower Project has been arranged and its first phase will be completed in three to four years.

In an interview, he said the project will help overcome power shortage, besides irrigating thousands of acres of barren land.

Musaddiq Malik said the World Bank had agreed to provide assistance for the 4,320 megawatt power project.

He said negotiations are also underway with World Bank, Asian Development Bank and other international financial institutions to start work on Diamer Basha dam project.

Dasu Hydropower Project is a run of river scheme located 7 km upstream of Dasu village on Indus River, 74 km downstream of Diamer Basha Dam and 350 km from Islamabad.

The Project is located in District Kohistan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
