June 29--First City Singers at Lake Bemidji State Park

BEMIDJI -- The Headwaters School of Music & Arts, in collaboration with the Lake Bemidji State Park, will hold its next summer concert in the park today. The First City Singers will be on stage at 1:30 p.m. today at Lake Bemidji State Park, 3401 State Park Road NE. This group of 35 singers loves to get together and sing. They have been singing together for the past 12 years and perform at five different elderly facilities each month. The First City Singers will perform several summer favorites from "When the Red, Red Robin Goes Bobbin Along to Lollipop."

BEMIDJI -- The general public is invited to preview the debut of Louane Beyer's third book in a series titled "Journey To China" from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Kat's Book Nook, 750 Paul Bunyan Drive NW. Partnering in the event will be Deborah Jensen with her book, "Beyond Escape." Bring your friends to participate in the mystery fortune cookies and sign up for a door prize basket. The Ambassadors concert in Blackduck on Tuesday

BLACKDUCK -- The Ambassadors will be in concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church, 481 Fourth St. NE in Blackduck. They are made up of two men, two women, and an accompanist. This team is committed to proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ through musical concerts and through testimony of what God has done in their lives, according to a press release from organizers.

Bemidji High School brass quintet

BEMIDJI -- Bemidji Area Church Musicians summer recital series will feature the Bemidji High School brass quintet at noon Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, 501 Minnesota Ave. NW. The performance will include Kayla Hewitt and Tony Turner on trumpet, Erin Jones on french horn, Lake Beyer on trombone and John McKeown on tuba. The program will include several works by Baroque composers including J. Clarke, G. F. Handel and H. Purcell. The BHS Brass Quintet has performed with acclaim throughout the past school year. A luncheon will follow the concert with a price to be announced.

"North County Landscapes" opening reception Thursday

BEMIDJI -- An opening reception of "North County Landscapes," featuring the work of of Dee Anne Najjar will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Dunn Bros Coffee, 501 Paul Bunyan Drive S. Working in pastels, oil and mixed media, Dee Anne creates art to capture the people and places that she loves with a focus on northern landscapes, creating art to leave a legacy for her grandchildren. Stained glass opening reception Thursday

BEMIDJI -- An opening reception for the stained glass art of Garry Dawson will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Wild Hare Bistro and Coffeehouse, 523 Minnesota Ave. The pieces function as window hangings, inserts, and room dividers, and will enhance any room that

"Sing With Paint" artists reception July 11

BEMIDJI -- An artist reception for a new exhibit from the Freehand Collaboration Group, called, "Sing With Paint" will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m.July 11 at Cabin Coffee House, 214 Third St. NW. Artists were asked to take time to listen, to choose a sound or song that they found moving and visually interpret it, incorporating the color, emerald green. For more information, call 556-4485.

Tree Party returns to Second Street Stage

PARK RAPIDS -- Tree Party will return to Second Street Stage from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at at Second Street Stage, between Main Ave. and Highway 71 in Park Rapids. Bring your own lawn chairs. Gallery North First Friday open house

Lainie Hiller artist reception at Neilson

Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents "Jae, Jazz and More"

BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents the cool sounds of jazz with the Jae Sinnett Trio at 7:30 p.m.July 19 at the Bemidji High School Auditorium, 2900 Division St. NW. Cost is $10 for adults and senior citizens. Students, in kindergarten through 12th grade are admitted for free. "Guys and Dolls"at Northern Light Opera Co.
