June 29--RIYADH -- Riyad Bank managed by ITBR Finance Director Froy Garcia and captained by Zohair Oqilan returned with an early display of might to capture a Team of the Week and Bowler of the Week double during the second session in the 2014 Interbank Tenpin Bowling League here.
RB team demolished former champion Saudi Hollandi Bank 390-0 for the coveted team award and Ric Singson completed an RB double by clinching the Bowler of the Week honors after shooting the high series of 816.
The trio of Sonny Alviso, Freddie Solomon and Oqilan backed up Singson with 781, 775 and 721 in that order. Mixi Lechuga added 336 in two games while James Frizzle and Patrict Alviso had 150 and 130.
SHB looked out of sorts and struggled to score. Clem Salazar, Gerry Ayonon and Arnel Bernabe compiled 679, 667 and 666. Straight-bowlers Jil Hembra and Rommel Calungcagin rolled 539 and 464 while Val Baraquio and Lauro Castro contributed 155 and 143.
Bank Saudi Fransi captained by Jun Bantug overpowered sister team BSF-CBG mentored by Ken Hechanova 280-0. Bantug and Edwin Timango led the BSF charge on 796 and 780 while Noel Morales and JR Diaz rolled 517 and 445. Joseph Adao, Dawood Sereno and AJ Bonifacio contributed 366, 318 and 316.
Gilbert Masias was the highest scorer in BSF-CBG team scoring 720 in four games, with Marty Abuloc on 637, Alfred Estrada 621 and Dennis Buot 615 and Andy Illanza 466.
Defending champion Shabab SABB grabbed the top spot from Alinma Bank when they thrashed them in three games 260-130. Last week's best bowler Arnold Jesena continued to shine and led SABB to victory on 752. He was supported by Rey Bautista, Edwin Nunez, Jaffer Al-Kathiri and captain Ahmed Qarquosh on respective series of 733, 700, 631 and 606. Veteran Mike Sharif contributed 213.
Alinma Bank avoided a shutout by winning the second game. Abdulrahman Ahmed tallied 775. Angelo Train (757), Willie Bondoc (703), Jerry Barce (652) and captain Jojo de Silva (635) were the other Alinma scorers.
The match between SAMA-Abana Unified and Saudi Investment Bank ended in 3-1 win to SAMA on 150-50 points. Koko Torres produced an excellent performance to score 725 while David Smart, Remy Generales, Jun Macarandan and SAMA captain Teody Zulaybar carded 645, 635, 629 and 607.
At SAIB veteran Joey Salem showed the way on 721 followed by by Eddison Austria 667 and team captain Dong Calub 657. Gil Catulay made 399 while Jonathan Avenido and Ariel Diaz rolled 294 and 253. Ric Cura had 139.
The tournament played Monday nights at its new venue, Universal Bowling Center, is sponsored by all participating banks.
