Reps Urge CBN to Suspend New BDC Policy

June 26, 2014

The House of Representatives today called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to suspend the new requirements for operators of Bureau De Change (BDC) in the country.

The House took this decision after adopting a motion on the matter moved by Rep Ibrahim Shehu Gusau (PDP, Zamfara).

The House also mandated its committee on banking and currency to invite CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele to brief the lawmakers on the matter.

The motion enjoyed the support of most lawmakers who argued that the new BDC policy is anti-development and would create more unemployment in the country.
