Rep. Engel Meets Congressional Art Winner

June 26, 2014

WASHINGTON, June 26 -- Rep. Eliot L. Engel, D-N.Y. (16th CD), issued the following news release:

Congressman Eliot Engel (NY-16) welcomed Yunchao Le, the winner of the 16th Congressional District Art Contest, at the U.S. Capitol on Thursday.

Yunchao's work was selected to hang in the Capitol gallery, alongside other winning entries from across the country. Le and his mother, Haini, attended a ceremony and reception for all of the district winners before meeting with their Congressman.

Yunchao immigrated to Scarsdale from China three years ago, and is planning to study industrial design after he graduates from high school next year. The rising senior is planning to apply to the Rhode Island School of Design, and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

"I feel lucky and blessed. I didn't expect to win when I entered the competition. I am just happy that people like my drawing. It's the first prize that I ever won," said Yunchao Le.

"Yunchao Le is clearly a very gifted artist. The Congressional Art Competition is a chance for young, aspiring artists like Yunchao to showcase their talent. I expect great things from Yunchao, and I look forward to hearing how his career progresses," said Congressman Engel.
