June 27--Each summer, the Peninsula's two excellent military bands, together with other musical organizations, entertain us with outdoor music. Here's a look at what's on tap in the coming weeks.

US Army TRADOC Band, Fort Eustis

Now in its 82nd season, the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Band performs selected Thursdays during July and August. Location is Magnolia Park on the banks of the James River on Fort Eustis in Newport News. All concerts start at 7 p.m. and run approximately one hour.

Concert-goers attending the "Music Under the Stars" series should bring chairs or blankets for lawn sitting. Alcoholic beverages and pets are permitted. There are portable rest rooms and food vendors as well.

A visitor's pass is required to access the post. You can stop by the visitor's center at the entrance to Gate 1 (at Fort Eustis Boulevard). Bring a driver's license and vehicle information. You can also go online to tradocband.com and print out a form for a pre-vetted pass. Follow the instructions on the form and present the pass at Gate 1 when entering the post.

View the weekly concert program at tradocband.com. The website and Facebook page also will carry information if a concert is canceled or the location is changed due to inclement weather.
