Mauritius,South Africa : AfDB approves loan of $116.7m loan to CEB

The African Development Bank (AfDB), announced that it has sanctioned $ 116.7 million loan to the Mauritius Central Electricity Board (CEB).

The loan was intended for the redevelopment of the Saint Louis Power Plant.

As per the bank, Saint Louis Power Project that has a overall amount of $ 129.7 million, will be utilize in raising the firm generating capacity of the CEB so as to preserve reliability of supply, reduce environmental impacts and stabilize the electricity supply.

Director of the AfDB s Energy, Environment and Climate Change Department, Alex Rugamba stated that, development could be met guaranteeing the provision of adequate power supply to all sectors of the economy on the main island.

Moreover, the key segments of the Mauritius economy tourism, textiles and financial services, are all dependent on the availability of a secure and reliable supply of electricity.
