Fastjet boss sets course for profit

June 27, 2014

Daily Mail, London

June 27--The boss of African low-cost airline Fastjet has vowed to lead it into profit after offloading loss-making Kenyan airline Fly540.

Fastjet posted a loss of pounds sterling 48m against pounds sterling 32.5m last year. But boss Ed Winter said it could move into profit now by increasing the frequency of each plane's average time in the air to 11.7 hours a day by the end of the third quarter.

'At that point the business starts to become profitable.'

Fastjet shares closed unchanged at 1.65p.
