Citadel Capital Adopts Arabic Name Qalaa

CITADEL Capital has changed its name to Qalaa Holdings few months after transforming its business model from a private equity firm to an investment company.

The company which will rebrand soon to reflect the new identity said the name is a direct "transliteration of the Arabic word for 'citadel' ". Qalaa has been the Egypt-based company's Arabic name since 2004, it said in the statement.

In its change of business nature recently, the company said it will focus on focus on core subsidiaries in energy, cement, agrifoods, transportation and mining.

"The company will continue to be a long-term investor in Africa's infrastructure and industrial sectors, helping build a better tomorrow for more than one billion citizens," Qalaa said in the statement.
