June 27--NEW ALBANY -- Keeping with recent tradition, New Albany will host its Independence Day celebration a day early.

There will be inflatable playgrounds for the kids, live music for the adults and fireworks for everyone Thursday, July 3, at the New Albany Riverfront Amphitheater.

The music will begin at 5 p.m., as local bands from Jimmy's Music Center will perform until 7 p.m.

The Juice Box Heroes will perform from 7:15 to 8:15.

The Louisville Crashers will again headline the July 3 show. There will be a break in the Louisville Crashers' set for fireworks just after sunset, and the band will finish the night with more songs following the pyrotechnics.

The Independence Day celebration has drawn thousands of people to the city's riverfront in recent years.

"It's always a fun show. People really enjoy it," said Michael Hall, director of operations for the city.

The event is free and open to the public. There will be food and drink vendors present, but no outside alcohol is permitted at the Amphitheater.
