June 27--COLUMBUS -- The smell of funnel cakes and hot dogs filled the air Thursday night while the 43rd Army Band performed this year's fourth session for Lawnchairs on the Square.

Despite questionable weather earlier in the evening, the green grass of Frankfort Square slowly became packed with spectators, vendors and entertainers, plus children who couldn't help but dance -- not to mention the four-legged friends who were enjoying every bit of the action, and dropped food.

More than 40 members made up the variety band that has now played twice for Lawnchairs on the Square.

Lawnchairs on the Square performances are Thursday nights at 7 p.m. through Aug. 14 and free to the public.

The Columbus Jazz Orchestra is scheduled to perform July 10.

Lawnchairs on the Square won't be held next week.
