June 26--Emma and Jacob Taggart will perform a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, at Zion Lutheran Church of Amor. The program is open to the public, for a donation, which will be used to support their piano training.

Emma, 11, and Jacob, 7, are classically trained pianists who delight audiences wherever they perform. Their program will include works by Bach, Chopin, Debussy, Gershwin and more.

This is the second year that Emma has performed at the church, and it will be Jacob's first appearance. The children are the grandchildren of Ron and Margi Taggart of Park Rapids.

Emma, who is well on her way to becoming a world renowned concert pianist, has won many local and international competitions, and given solo concerts throughout the United States and Europe.

In 2012, she received first place with a unanimous decision by the jury in the Maria Herrero International Piano Competition in Granada, Spain.

In the spring of 2013, she made her orchestral debut with the Minnetonka Orchestra, playing Mozart's Concerto No. 23 in A Major. Emma started lessons at age four with Mary Carloni, and after a year, was referred to Dr. Reid Smith. She gave her first solo recital at the age of six.

In May 2013, at the age of six, Jacob won his first piano award, the Wildwood Series Young Artist Award. In the summer of 2013, he placed second at the Epiphany Springfest Talent Show in the pre-teen division. He was also a finalist at the Minnesota State Fair Talent Competition in 2013, playing before an audience of 7,000. He took first place in the pre-teen division of the Epiphany Talent Competition this May, 2014.

Jacob and Emma will be attending the Lovere Piano festival this summer in Milan, Italy. In addition to playing a solo recital, they will each be making their European orchestral debut. Jacob will be performing the first movement of the Bach Concerto No. 5 with the Milan Chamber Orchestra and Emma will be playing the 2nd and 3rd movements of Beethoven's Concerto No. 1.
