Radio 3 Live In Concert, BBC Radio 3, 7.30pm/The Essay: Minds At War, BBC Radio 3, 10.45pm

As part of the BBC's Music In The Great War strand - and marking the end of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra's residency at the St Magnus Festival in Orkney - BBC Radio 3 presents a performance from there of Charles Ives's The Unanswered Question. Written in 1908, it places three groups of musicians at different places in the auditorium. That's followed by the third of a series of essays about how artists, writers and thinkers responded to the First World War. In tonight's episode, German painter Otto Dix comes under the spotlight in a programme presented by cartoonist Martin Rowson, above.
