BRIEF: Tech planning summer jazz festival concert

June 25--Texas Tech'sSchool of Music will host the Summer Jazz Festival Concert at 8 p.m.June 30 in the Hemmle Recital Hall.

The event is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature Rodney Booth, an El Paso native, who has performed with recording artists such as Wayne Newton, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles and Al Green.

Ben Haugland, a professor of jazz at Tech, also will perform at the concert. Haugland has a doctorate in jazz studies from the University of Northern Colorado and has received nine DownBeat awards, including Best Instrumental Jazz Soloist.
