United States : NORTHROP GRUMMAN secures modification contract from US AIR FORCE

June 24, 2014

Northrop Grumman Corp. has secured a USD238m modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract from the US Air Force to deliver hardware and support for the Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasure (LAIRCM) system.

Critical to the safe return of troops abroad, LAIRCM automatically detects a missile launch, decides if it is a threat and activates a high-intensity laser-based countermeasure system to track and defeat the missile.

Northrop Grumman will be responsible for delivering extra transmitters, missile warning sensors, processors, lasers, control interface units and supporting equipment to the Air Force through April 2016.

Northrop Grumman is a leading global security company delivering innovative systems, products and solutions in unmanned systems, cyber, C4ISR, and logistics and modernization to government and commercial customers worldwide.
