Tokyo stocks fall in morning on overnight declines in U.S. shares

Tokyo stocks fell Wednesday morning as investor sentiment was soured by overnight declines in U.S. shares.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 64.95 points, or 0.42 percent, from Tuesday to 15,311.29. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 3.54 points, or 0.28 percent, at 1,264.96.

Major decliners included mining, machinery as well as pulp and paper shares.
