June 24, 2014

Samsung Electronics on Monday unveiled its thinnest and lightest tablet Galaxy Tab S in Dubai and said it will be available across the Gulf markets from July 5 with starting price of Dh1,699.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S will come in a variety of connectivity options: Wi-Fi, or Wi-Fi and LTE, available in 16GB + MicroSD (up to 128GB). Users can also choose between the 10.5-inch and 8.4-inch versions, in Titanium Bronze or Dazzling White.

The Galaxy Tab S 8.4-inch WiFi and LTE models retail at Dh1,699 and Dh2,099, respectively, while its 10.5-inch WiFi and LTE models retail at Dh2,099 and Dh2,599, respectively.

The South Korean company didn't disclose its sales numbers but referring to market research firm GfK it claimed market leadership with the highest share.

"We have recorded 100 per cent year-on-year growth in tablet segment year-to-date compared to last year," Samsung Gulf Electronics business head for Mobility Sales Group Denzil D'Souza told Khaleej Times at the launch.

This Super AMOLED tablet combines the most advanced display technology with a full range of premium content for an unrivaled entertainment experience. The Galaxy Tab S is also powered with enhanced productivity features for effortless multitasking, all elegantly housed in a highly stylish, yet practical design.

"For customers looking for the ideal device to consume content on the go, the Galaxy Tab S delivers industry leading features that bring content to life, thanks to its true colour and astonishing detail. An impressive visual and entertainment experience is complimented by an ultra-light weight and stylist design.

Combined with long battery life, multi-tasking capabilities and the ability to receive voice calls, the Tab S is the perfect device for both work and leisure purposes. A true gem in today's fast paced environment," D'Souza explained. He mentioned that the device comes with 20 free Apps in addition to free subscription of New York Times and one year subscription for Bloomberg.

Since Super AMOLED technology doesn't require a backlight, the Galaxy Tab S consumes less energy than comparative LCD displays while maintaining a very portable design.

The Galaxy Tab S embodies the next evolution in mobile display technology, delivering a wider range of rich and crisp colors. Its industry-leading WQXGA (2560x1600, 16:10) Super AMOLED display delivers more than 90 per cent of Adobe RGB colour coverage.

The Galaxy Tab S also features additional Samsung screen technologies that go beyond the hardware specifications. The tablet's Adaptive Display ensures the best visual experience anywhere, anytime.

In addition, Galaxy Tab S users can fully enjoy content clearly and easily outdoors, even in bright sunlight. The tablet's advanced outdoor visibility technology makes on-screen content look bright, natural, and easy to view.
