Rufin Disburses N35 Million Credit to Bauchi LGs

The Rural Finance Institution (RUFIN) has disbursed N35 million credit to 10,800 clients in three local government areas in Bauchi State under Village Savings and Credit Groups (VSCGs) as loans.

State Coordinator of the programme, Alhaji Mahmud Usman, disclosed this in Bauchi.

According to him, the objective of the programme is to develop and strengthen member-based micro finance institutions to enhance the access of rural communities to the services of Micro finance institutions to boost agricultural activities and Micro Small rural enterprises started with Bauchi, Ningi and Katagum councils.

He said RUFIN programme was an agreement reached between the Federal Government and International Fund for Agricultural Development to fight poverty with Focus to rural poor with priority to Women, Youth and the physically challenged person. According to the statement, linkage of groups to financial institutions is remarkable, from 127 groups in 2011 against 450 groups in 2014 consisting of 10,800 clients in three RUFIN LGAs, Bauchi, Ningi and Katagum .
