Musical Theatre in Tusket Pays Tribute to the Story of Evangeline

TUSKET, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - June 24, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Acadian story told in the celebrated poem "Evangeline" will be dramatized in a musical presented to residents and visitors in the Argyle region in July and August.

The Government of Canada has provided funding of $30,000 to the Conseil des arts de Par-en-Bas through the Community Life component of the Development of Official Language Communities Program.

Greg Kerr, Member of Parliament (West Nova), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

This funding will allow the Conseil des arts de Par-en-Bas to produce and present "Piece musicale Evangeline" at the Salle Pere Maurice LeBlanc in Tusket from July 15 to August 15, in partnership with the Hebron Arts Centre. The Conseil des arts de Par-en-Bas will coordinate artistic and musical direction, recruit actors and a support team, and organize and promote the event. The play will engage the community in a greater appreciation of Acadian history and culture.
