Mobile App for Monitoring Financial Health Goes Live

Sage Pastel has launched a mobile phone-based accounting system that monitors financial performance of a company in real time.

According to Sage Pastel's divisional director Mohammed Mosam, the application allows users to view customer information, record notes and create quotations or invoices on their smart phones.

The firm is leveraging on the growing market for smartphones with about 100,000 devices estimated to be shipped into the country every month.

"Kenya has pioneered mobile technologies such as mobile payments, and we are expecting the market to be as excited about the possibilities of mobile business software," the firm's East Africa regional manager Nikki Summers said in a statement.

The application will also enable employees to apply for leave, salary advances, loans and other financial services.

"Our customers want to use these smart devices to transact and work anywhere and anytime," Mosam added.
