JEDDAH, June 24 (KUNA) -- A delegation of Kuwait'sFinance Ministry discussed with a work group of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Tuesday the implementation of a joint strategic partnership that was signed in May 2013.

The meeting aims at discussing outcome of a meeting between IDB Board Chairman Dr. Ahmad Ali and His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah last month, during which Ali briefed the Kuwaiti leader about the strategic partnership, a statement by the IDB said.

Khalifa Hamada, Kuwait Finance Undersecretary, thanked Ali for assigning the IDB departments to further activate the strategic partnership.

"The finance ministry is ready to remove any obstacle facing the implementation of this strategy," he was quoted by the statement as saying.

Head of IDB work group Dr. Waleed Al-Wuhaib said the IDB Group has paid a special attention to the strategic partnership with Kuwait because it was the first of a kind between IDB and a Gulf country.

The strategic partnership aims at backing the economic diversity through enabling the private sector to spearhead the development process to ultimately boost the non-oil sector in Kuwait, as well as other IDB's member states' benefitting from successful experiences in Kuwait. (end)
