Guinea : TINA hydro tender expanded

The national has increased the time limit for expressions of interest from firms to develop the 20-MW Tina River hydroelectric project on a build-own-operate-transfer basis. Responses at present are due July 31.

The government earlier called for responses by June 12. It intends to select a developer to design, finance, build, own, and operate the project on the Tina River on Guadalcanal.

It requested pre-expressions from developers in 2011 for Tina River, then listed as 15 MW.

From that time it employed consultants to develop a social assessment and indigenous peoples plan and an environmental and social impact assessment.

Tina River is planned to feature a 50-meter-tall roller-compacted-concrete dam, a 3.3-kilometer headrace tunnel, and a powerhouse with four 5-MW Francis turbines.

Firms with experience developing hydropower projects between 15 and 100 MW are invited submit expressions of interest to identify candidates for a tendering process.

Firms that submitted pre-expressions of interest in 2011 are by now registered however may submit new expressions of interest if they expect to do so.
