Dollar trades near 102 yen in early Tokyo deals

June 24, 2014

The U.S. dollar traded near the 102 yen line early Wednesday in Tokyo, almost unchanged from its level overnight in New York.

At 9 a.m., the dollar fetched 101.92-93 yen compared with 101.92-102.02 yen in New York and 101.96-98 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The euro was quoted at $1.3606-3606 and 138.67-68 yen against $1.3601-3611 and 138.70-80 yen in New York and $1.3605-3607 and 138.72-76 yen in Tokyo late Tuesday afternoon.

In New York on Tuesday, the dollar drew buying after strong U.S. new home sales data for May boosted expectations about an early interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve. But its early gains were pared later amid concerns about instability in Iraq.
