June 24--GREENSBORO -- Bank of America is closing its main branch on West Friendly Avenue early next year.
The branch at 101 West Friendly Ave. will close Feb. 27, 2015. Customers have been notified by mail.
"This decision is driven primarily by a decline in transactions, as customers increasingly rely on other channels, including mobile and online banking," Bank of America spokeswoman Nicole Nastacie said in an email. "However, we expect minimal impact given the proximity of other locations."
Customers who bank at the West Friendly branch are being encouraged to use nearby branches, including the one at 629 Green Valley Road and 1616 East Bessemer Ave.
Earlier this month, Bank of America announced that it planned to sell its Eden branch to HomeTrust Bank of Asheville. Bank of America closed its Reidsville branch last year. Bank officials also cited more customers using online and mobile banking as the reason behind those decisions.
