June 24--CORINTH -- Ayrshire Electronics has announced an expansion that will add 25 jobs at the Corinth location.

"Ayrshire is a dedicated employer and partner in Alcorn County," said District 1 Supervisor Lowell Hinton, president of the Alcorn County Board of Supervisors. "We are proud to work with them to add these 25 jobs. Adding jobs in the county is very important to our board and we will continue to work with manufacturers who aim to grow their workforce here."

The company's $100,000 corporate investment is matched by a $117,000 infrastructure improvements grant provided by the Mississippi Development Authority, with an additional $13,026 from the county.

"I'd like to thank Ayrshire Electronics for this job creation and investment in Corinth," said Mayor Tommy Irwin. "Time and time again, Ayrshire has demonstrated their commitment to our community. We appreciate their continued growth here."

The full-service electronics manufacturing company garnered Alcorn County a 2009 Community Impact Award from Trade & Industry Development magazine for its work with Ayrshire Electronics that saved about 200 jobs. Ayrshire bought the assets of ACT Electronics in October 2008 after ACT announced that it would close its doors in December, putting those 200 employees out of work.

This announcement marks the Louisville, Kentucky-based company's third expansion in Corinth in the past six years. The company manufactures printed circuit board assemblies and other products.

"Our team works closely with our existing manufacturers like Ayrshire to help facilitate the growth of operations in Corinth and Alcorn County," said Gary Chandler, president of The Alliance economic development organization. "Thanks to Ayrshire Electronics for their loyalty to our community. We appreciate our local governments, MDA and the governor for their continued support of our manufacturers. We want to build off of what Ayrshire has in place today and expand it moving forward to create additional job opportunities for Alcorn countians."
