Tokyo stocks open lower on Dow's overnight fall

Tokyo stocks opened lower Tuesday as investors locked in gains in the wake of an overnight fall in the 30-issue Dow Jones Industrial Average.

In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 113.42 points, or 0.74 percent, from Monday to 15,255.86. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 9.20 points, or 0.73 percent, at 1,258.28.

Major decliners included mining, real estate and brokerage shares.
