Tokyo stocks fall in morning on selling to lock in gains

Tokyo stocks fell Tuesday morning on selling to lock in gains following an overnight fall in the 30-issue Dow Jones Industrial Average.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 56.07 points, or 0.36 percent, from Monday to 15,313.21. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 4.38 points, or 0.35 percent, at 1,263.10.

Major decliners included mining, pulp and paper as well as bank shares.
