Overture Unveils Harmony NFV Partner Ecosystem

June 24, 2014

Overture said it is introducing Harmony, an ecosystem of hardware, software and services partners focused on accelerating service provider's automation and network functions virtualization (NFV) initiatives at the metro service edge.

In its release, Overture said that the Harmony partner program is a pillar of the open environment that Overture believes to be essential for the realization of software-defined services. It allows service providers to select best of breed components and avoid single vendor proprietary systems, while also decreasing their project risks and accelerating deployments.

Overture President and CEO, Mike Aquino:s the industry moving towards a strong and open ecosystem that is crucial for the success of NFV-based services. "Our customers have been very clear with us: a multi-vendor ecosystem is crucial for cloud, virtualization, and software-defined service solutions," said Aquino. "They are demanding open architectures, vendor cooperation, and open interfaces. This has led us to introduce our Harmony program, an ecosystem of partners committed to working together on behalf of our customers."

Many of the partnerships being formalized began in the proofs of concepts stage, which are now moving quickly into real-world deployment plans.

Overture said that the Harmony partner ecosystem follows the Company's recent announcements of the availability of three key elements of the Ensemble OSA: the Ensemble Service Orchestrator, Ensemble Network Controller and, most recently, the Overture 65vSE. Ensemble OSA is the industry's first complete and open platform for service automation and network functions virtualization that is built specifically for the service provider metro edge.
