8 small to medium hydro-power projects initiated

The Government has initiated eight small to medium hydro-power projects under the Renewable Energy Development Sector Investment Programme with the support of the Asian Development Bank.

According to state-run radio, these projects are being implemented with an estimated cost of 290 million dollars.

Negotiations are also in progress with the Asian Development Bank for funding of another two small hydropower projects.

Meanwhile, the Government of Punjab has issued Letters of Intent to private investors for establishment of 10 small hydropower projects with a cumulative capacity of 142 MW at different locations of the province.
