June 22--JOHNSTOWN -- Not everyone likes motorcycles. Especially the roar of more then 100,000 motorcycles that arrive in the area each summer.

Even those who are unfamiliar with the joy of riding the big bikes make their way into the region each year for Thunder in the Valley, rally organizers say.

The biker parade, food, music, a children's area and the Budweiser Clydesdales keep them coming back, said Lisa Rager, director of the Johnstown/Cambria County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB).

"If people don't even care about motorcycles, they want to come in and see the horses you see on Super Bowl and holiday commercials," Rager said.

And parades?

"Everybody loves a parade. You can see by the crowd that gathers," she said.

The Venue of Merging Arts (V.O.M.A) is for the fourth year hosting the children's area Friday and Saturday at the Cambria County Library, 248 Main St.

Other attractions include the Johnstown Flood Museum, which tells the story of the 1889 Johnstown Flood that killed more than 2,200 people; the Heritage Discovery Center, which illustrates the story of the immigrants who passed through Ellis Island and settled in Johnstown; and the Inclined Plane, which according to the Guinness Book of World Records is the world's steepest vehicular inclined plane.

Rager said the biker rally has something for everyone, even if you don't wear leather and ride a motorcycle.

"We tell people you don't have to have a motorcycle," she said. "It really is a relaxing atmosphere for people to enjoy."
