BRIEF: Ringo Starr: With a little help from his friends

June 22, 2014

By Rodger Mullen, The Fayetteville Observer, N.C.

June 22--Fifty years after the Beatles first appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show," Ringo Starr is still going strong.

The drummer is scheduled to perform today (Sunday, June 22) at 8 p.m. at Durham Performing Arts Center with his All Starr Band.

Ringo -- seems right to call him by his first name, doesn't it? -- is expected to perform both Beatles and solo hits, so expect to hear classics like "A Little Help From My Friends," "It Don't Come Easy" and "Photograph."

Ringo's a legend, but his All-Star Band mates are no slouches, either. Members include singer, songwriter and producer extraordinaire Todd Rundgren, Steve Lukather of Toto, and Gregg Rolie of Santana and Journey. Each will get his own turn in the spotlight.

The details: Tickets start at $85 to $175 and are available by calling 919-680-2787 or going to ticketmaster.com or dpacnc.com. More information is available at ringostarr.com. Durham Performing Arts Center is at 123 Vivian St.
