June 22--In honor of Tower Days, Bowdle will play host Friday night to Sherwin and Pam Linton and the Cotton Kings.

The concert, which is presented by the Bowdle Community Club, begins at 7:30 p.m at the Bowdle Legion Hall.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $13 at the door. Those tickets are available at Dewald's C-Store in Bowdle or by contacting Cheryl at or 605-281-9005.

Linton has been performing for 58 years, and he is still singing the songs of Elvis, Marty Robbins, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and Johnny Cash "with the same vitality that made them classics," said a news release. He also performs many of his originals plus a variety of traditional country, folk, gospel and cowboy songs.

"An infectious smile, charming personality and sincerity have won him a loyal legion of friends and fans. Sherwin often plays over 250 dates a year and among his many unique accomplishments is a perfect attendance record," said the news release. He has never missed a scheduled performance.

With the re-release of Linton's 1970s tribute "Hello, I'm Not Johnny Cash," he has developed a new fan base among younger people.

Linton is a fan favorite at the Brown County Fair and the South Dakota State Fair.
