June 22, 2014

Dhaka, Jun 22 (UNB)- Reports are circulating that Samsung is poised to release a new smart watch at Google's I/O conference, scheduled for June 25 and 26. The new gadget, and similar devices from Motorola and LG will use Google's Android Wear operating system, and are said to either use processors from Qualcomm or one from its own chip manufacturing division.

Android Wear is a version of Google's Android operating system designed for smartwatches and other wearable computing devices. It was announced on March 18 with a developer preview available, and integrates Google Now functionality. Companies including Motorola, Samsung, LG, HTC and Asus have been announced as partners in the project, with Motorola and LG announcing devices on the launch date.

Samsung has a bevy of wearables, running either Tizen, or a custom operating system in the case of the Gear Fit. Samsung had no comment on the report from Cnet, saying only that it is committed to relentless innovation and new products are always in development."
