June 22, 2014

Gunmen killed a singer in Peshawar in the latest attack against female artists. Gulnaz, 38, famous under her performing name Muskan, was killed after four gunmen stormed into her home. Witnesses say there was shouting then gunfire. She died later in hospital.

Attacks against female singers are common in Pakistan's conservative north-west, where many consider the performing arts to be un-Islamic. AFP
