A life filled with dance

June 21--CLINTON -- Most of Kimberlin Richardson's life has been filled with dance.

The 21-year-old Clinton resident has spent more than a decade of dancing at Carousel School of Dance. She also participated in the Gateway Ballet Company for 10 years. For the past two years, she has found a spot at the studio, teaching tap and tumbling.

"I just fell in love with dancing and fell in love with my instructors and the people here and the environment," said Kimberlin about starting lessons when she was younger.

Throughout the years, she has danced tap, ballet and jazz. She has a love of all forms of dance.

"I love to teach anything," Kimberlin said. "I love, love tap, but I love them all."

Graduating from Ashford University with a bachelors degree in business administration and a minor is human resources, Kimberlin also works as a wedding and events planner. However, she is still happy to instruct dance at Carousel, a position that grew from her helping out her instructors.

Besides her basic love of dance, she enjoys working with her students. For her, witnessing the moment when a student understands how to do a step -- when it clicks for them -- is rewarding.

"I love teaching and helping the girls learn and grow as a person," Kimberlin said. "It's just awesome."

Currently, Kimberlin is working with the rest of the staff at Carousel to get everything ready for the 54th annual spring performance, set for June 29. This will be the first show to have pieces of Kimberlin's own choreography. She said this performance will have a nice mix, with "a bit of everything."

The event will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Vernon Cook Theater.
