Best known for his illustration and co-creation of Mega Man, Inafune is commonly hailed as a video game icon. He formerly served as the Head of Research and Development, Online Business and Production for Capcom. He has produced and illustrated popular characters in both the Street Fighter and Mega Man series, which has led to his recognition as a key element in Capcom’s success.

“Keiji Inafune is a legend in the video game community and we are so thrilled to have him as the Guest of Honor at SGC 2014,” said Craig Skistimas, Founder of ScrewAttack. “He’s known industry-wide from his prolific work on the classic Mega Man franchise, and now our attendees can meet and geek out on this creator and his ongoing game pursuits. Anyone interested in the history and future of the gaming industry need look no further than Inafune-san. His presence at this year’s SGC is not to be missed and will be a highlight for all of us.”

Inafune recently left Capcom after 23 years to focus on his own company, Comcept USA, where he is working on Mighty No. 9, an upcoming action-platform video game that raised nearly $4 million through its Kickstarter campaign. He is also the producer of the Dead Rising, an open-world horror video game, in addition to many other projects.

For those interested in attending and seeing Inafune speak, this year’s conference will take place in the Dallas Sheraton Hotel in downtown Dallas, TX on July 11th through the 13th. In addition to celebrity and industry speakers, the conference also includes how-to panels, a console gaming area with arcade, a dealers room, table-top gaming, the Iron-Man of Gaming competition, and many tournaments throughout the weekend. In addition to celebrating the world of video games, SGC is best described as a three-day slumber party, celebrating video games, pop culture, and most importantly, FUN!
