President of South Korea praises Uzbekistan's research work of cultural heritage, protection of historical monuments

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and President of South Korea Park Geun-hye visited Samarkand on June 18 prior to the Park's departure for Kazakhstan, the press service of the Uzbek President reported.

The two leaders visited Observatory and Memorial Museum of Mirzo Ulugbek. Park expressed admiration of a unique talent of the scientist.

Afterwards, she got acquainted with the Afrasiab Museum to study the history of the Uzbek people; as well as Registan Square Complex to visit exhibition of national handicraft items. She praised Uzbekistan's research works of cultural heritage and protection of historical monuments.

In addition, Park Geun-hye visited Amir Timur Mausoleum of the Asian conqueror Tamerlane.

The sides reached mutually beneficial agreements on interstate, intergovernmental and interdepartmental levels. The documents signed are expected to contribute to further development of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and South Korea.
